Brownstone Renovation in Prospect Lefferts Gardens Historic District
The renovation of this Landmarked brownstone brought life and light back to an old building which sat derelict for nearly a decade. The gut required abating 100-year old asbestos-laden walls, and preserving original wood, stone, mosaic tiles, and plaster detailing throughout.

A matte black wall below the main stair adds contrast while concealing the new relocated entry down to the Cellar.

Exposing the original wood ceiling joists and exterior masonry cavity wall in the kitchen/dining room. This union of raw building materials and refined finished materials is expressed throughout the house.

The originally separated kitchen and dining rooms at the back of the house were opened up to each other, replacing the load-bearing wall with an exposed LVL beam. New enlarged aperatures were created at the back facade, converting once small windows into full-height custom-fabricated steel and glass casement windows and doors opening up onto the backyard.
